This month at the New Moon Women’s Circle we will be planting moon flowers! We will provide the soil, pots and the seeds - just bring hands ready to play in the dirt!

Another activity we will incorporate this month is discovering our moon-signs. Most of us know our sun-signs, but knowing your moon-sign is less common. In order to do this, you’ll need to know your birth date and, more specifically, your birth time. So, try and find out the time of day you were born, and we’ll discover our moon-signs together!

As always, tea will be provided; please bring a light snack to share.

Finding Balance in Times of Change

A Donation-Based Workshop with Jen Maffett

All Proceeds Benefit the Women's Shelter in Bath.

A good friend of mine used to keep this statement on his white board: "the only constant is change." The fact that it was written on a white board, and therefore temporary, was weirdly comforting.

Change happens all the time. But things like disturbances to your favorite grocery store aisle, relationship transformations, career fluctuations and even modifications to world leadership can really shake up your day. In this interactive workshop we will help each other learn to deal with change in healthy, positive ways while building a more flexible approach to life and all it throws our way.

I would like people to walk away from the class with:

--A general understanding of how people react to changes ... both small ones and big ones.

--A way to approach change in a positive and healthy way, using tools that we will talk about

--An understanding of some mental and physical exercises that you can do to help get balanced when faced with change

About Jen: I've survived corporate life, a chaotic marriage, cancer, the challenges (and joys!) of parenting -- sometimes singlehandedly -- and along the way I rerouted my life to become a farmer and a certified health counselor. By learning to live simply and simply live well, I've learned a few things about change that I'd love to share. I hope you'll join me!

Donations: There is no cost to attend this workshop. Instead, you are invited to bring a donations for the women's shelter in Bath. 1They need clothing, kitchen items, toys and toiletries (unopened). Donations by check are also accepted.

Snacks: Light snacks will be provided.

Registration:  To register or ask questions, contact Jen Maffett:  jpmaffett@gmail.com

Arm Balances w/ Peter & Nicole

Arm Balances w/ Peter & Nicole

Join Kripalu Yoga Instructors Peter & Nicole for a 2-hour workshop exploring balance, strength, creativity, and fun in yoga arm balances. The postures we plan to examine and practice include:

Crow (Bakasana)

Revolved Crow (Parsva Bakasana)

Firefly (Titthibhasana)

Feathered Peacock Pose (Pincha Mayurasana)

& 8-Angled Pose (Ashtavakrasana)

In this workshop, we will first warm up with a vinyasa sequence to prepare the body for the more complex postures. Then, we will deconstruct the select yoga asanas into key alignment elements to understand how the joints are aligned and which muscles should be contracting and which should be lengthening. Finally, we'll practice tying them all together for the finished pose.

Even if you are unable to find the fullest expression of the posture in the workshop, you will be able to identify exactly where you can build strength or invite flexibility in order to practice the pose safely.

The joy, of course, is in the practice, not the perfection, of the postures.

The Yin Within

A meditative practice with guest instructor, Melissa Kleehammer

Yin Yoga is back and better than ever!

The previous Yin workshop was an intro style offering information on the physical, energetic and mental/emotional benefits of Yin Yoga. This time around poses will be paired with pranayama, music, mantra, mudras and meditation as a new way to express yourself and experience the poses on a deeper level! Every pose offers a different intention and challenge for your physical, mental and emotional body, so this pairing allows you to tap into the deep well of spirituality and inspiration within.

Our two hours together will melt away your stress, restore your nervous system and improve your meditation practice. You will leave feeling lighter, a new sense of freedom and inspiration to realize your dreams.

What is Yin Yoga?

Yin yoga gently stresses the muscles and connective tissues that tend to cause us pain as we age. Floor poses are held for a time to promote greater range of motion, flexibility and healthier joints, ultimately allowing for more comfort and ease within.

Healing Through the Akashic Records
Feb

Healing Through the Akashic Records

We spend time every day pondering things like our wants, our desires, our needs, our should do’s and could be’s. They roll around in our mind, multiplying and expanding, eventually becoming great fantasies or critical self-judgements. Why does this happen?

The simple truth is: Thoughts do not turn into change without ACTION.

But, how can we know what actions to take?

Take a journey with your Soul to find out! During this Healing Through the Akashic Records experience you’ll learn to allow your Soul to hold your hand through the process of sorting out your challenges and prioritizing your intentions. You’ll recognize the opportunity to narrow all of the small thought details that stream steadily in your mind down to one single, high-priority focus. What would it be like to shed all of the foggy, distorted perceptions that have posed obstacles to taking action?

Let’s create powerful yet appropriate movement – change that you can immediately bring into your day to day living.

Don’t wait any longer to harness your thoughts and progress in the direction your Soul yearns to go!

Join Melanie A. Wood, Advanced Practitioner of Akashic Records Readings, in a group experience that can take your healing journey beyond your current level and into supportive and nurturing reconciliation with yourself.

What are the Akashic Records? A realm of consciousness that holds infinite amounts of wisdom about the Soul’s journey – past, present and future. When we access this realm healing and transformation can occur from the point of view of the Soul!

In a group? Yes! We are all catalysts for learning through each other and our shared experience!

What this looks like:

1) You can lie down or sit in a chair for this experience. Bring your yoga mat and any props you need to be completely relaxed and comfortable.

2) Melanie will greet the group and offer some preliminary instruction and context.

4) Next, Melanie will guide you through accessing your Akashic Records. We will be using the Pathway Prayer Process as presented by Linda Howe. While in the Records Melanie will offer a meditation intended to inspire healing and transformation around “Intentional Action”.

5) Steps for integrating appropriate individualized action into your present life will also be included!

6) After closing your Akashic Records there will be opportunity for sharing a few sentences about what stood out to you and what action you intend to take.

Ready to get started? Email keukapeacefulroots@gmail.com to begin your registration process. Cost to participate is $30.

Questions? Melanie is happy to chat with you. Please do not hesitate to call her at (607) 591-2302 or email Melanie@personalintegration.org.

I will also share a few words of encouragement or inspiration to help keep you....well, encouraged and inspired! I will also provide you with some prompts for reflection. (I highly recommend you log your practice and observations).

You are welcome to share insights with me along the way, and to ask questions.

When: Feb 1st-Feb 29th, 2016. You choose the time of day (but I suggest you greet the day with some meditation)

Where: Wherever you are!

Intro to Yin Yoga

2:00pm 2:00pm

Intro to Yin Yoga

Intro to Yin Yoga

with Guest Instructor, Melissa Kleehammer

WHAT IS YIN YOGA?

Yin Yoga is the opposite of Yang (or active) yoga that you might be used to.  It involves applying gentle stress to the muscles and connective tissue that cause us pain as we age.  Floor poses are held for an extended period of time to help promote flexibility and healthier joints.

WHY PRACTICE YIN?

Yin Yoga offers greater range of motion, younger looking skin, a new way to release toxins, renewed feelings of non-attachmentand contentment, and greater respect for your body! In this workshop, we will hold floor poses for 3-5 minutes as a way to gently stretch the tight tissues in our bodies and help release aches and pains in our spine, hips, knees, ankles and shoulders.

Within the silence and stillness of a passive Yin practice, we work through the distractions and discomfort of our minds and bodies, making it a challenging, but rewarding practice.  Yin is also the perfect way to help slow us down after the super-charged holiday time!

Holiday time is exciting, but it also knocks us out of balance...
let's practice our passive Yin Yoga to bring us back!
